Grow Clean And Healthy Vegetables With Organic Gardening

Feeding your folks healthy, fresh vegetables is a great and rewarding experience when you dig in to organic gardening. Knowing where your food comes from and that your vegetables aren’t charged with insecticides and chemical fertilisers gives you confidence, and growing your edible plants in a chemical-free environment is much easier than you may think. All that organic gardening requires is a small amount of planning and an eagerness to get involved.

Like any garden, a chemical-free plot requires planning. First, decide where to plant and whether you need to plant in ground or in raised beds. In ground planting is less complicated just because you do not have to build the garden beds, but raised bed planting is commonly necessary in areas with compacted or poor soil. Either form will yield spectacular results if planted and maintained in the correct way.

Proper soil preparation is critical to the successfulness of your harvest. Improve your soil with compost, grass clippings, shredded leaves or fertilizer by tilling these additions into the soil thoroughly. The goal is to have about one third of the soil mixture be the added organic material. Spread a 3 in. layer of the material over the soil and till it in to a depth of approximately 10 inches. Use a motorized tiller to make it less complicated or get some extra exercise and hoe the ground by hand. After you have prepared the soil, you are prepared to plant your garden.

There are countless hundreds of options in plants and seeds from which you can choose for your garden beds. Carrots, tomatoes, corn and beans are simply a few of the easy to grow plants that can provide your folks with a delectable harvest. The choice is yours! Purchase organic seeds or plants from your local nursery or order them on the web. Follow the package directions given for planting each type of vegetable, water your “babies” frequently and make sure to fertilize with only chemical-free products according to package directions and shortly you’ll see them grow into healthy, productive plants.

Organic gardening is the easiest way to be sure that you and your folks get healthy, chemical and pesticide-free produce without needing to spend a fortune on fresh produce at the corner store. So get out there, plant those seeds and have a bit of a laugh in the sun!
