How To Build Low Budget Wooden Sheds
If you are planning on building a wooden shed in your backyard but are concerned about the cost, you can construct one yourself at a relatively low cost. The process of building wooden sheds is simple and is worth the extra effort. An inexpensive shed is well within your wallet’s reach if you have a few basic carpentry skills.
Let’s start with assessing your needs. Will your shed be used for storing your tools or riding mower? Or will you be using it as a backyard retreat that you’ll furnish and decorate?
Another one of your first considerations will be its size. This is easier to determine once you have decided what you will be using it for.
Now you are ready to do some online research. A good place to start is to do a search for images of wooden sheds. You will be able to find hundreds of photos to get an idea of what would work and look best to you. Then, once you have a few examples picked out, search for a set of plans that you can download online. There are a few you can obtain free but there is a wide selection of plans available for around $5.00US.
Wood pallets make a great option for material since we are talking about a limited budget. By using the boards from the pallets, complete sheds have been built. About $4.00US will get you a decent pallet. If you do some research, you should be able to find them free of charge. A lot of companies recycle their barely used pallets. I found a company that was happy to let me have as many as I needed. All I had to do was ask.
Of course, by using the wood from pallets, you’ll have to modify how you use the plans but its a great place to start. And, almost everything from the door to the floor and walls can be made by using the wood from the pallets.
If you’ve done your homework, its conceivable that the only items you’ll have to buy are the shingles, hardware and paint. Fortunately, even the shingles can be found a reduced prices if someone has overestimated a project and has extra you can purchase.
With some basic carpentry skills and a little resourcefulness, your “new” wooden shed is just a weekend or two away.
