Lawn Care Is A Holistic Procedure

Lawns are integral parts of every garden.  A well prepared lawn improves the beauty of your garden greatly. Since they are both ornamental and functional, lawns need to be well designed and maintained.  Weeds, overgrowth, diseased patches etc are the most common enemies of lawns.  Since these adversaries can rob every charm out of your lawn and thereby your garden itself, you need to be guarded against these and take proper lawn care measures timely and periodically.

The process of keeping the lawn in perfect health involves many aspects.  First of all, you should make sure that only the right grass that suits the climate is planted.  For example, lawns of colder regions should be those varieties that should keep green through the winter and lies dormant in summer.  You need to be careful about the month you are planting the grass since the climatic changes can mar your efforts easily.

You want to take proper lawn care by providing it with the essential water and fertilizer.  Moving helps the turf maintain its optimal health.  You must be sure of the amount of water and fertilizers applied since overfeeding or underfeeding could end up in the lawn getting ill.  Each sort of grass has its own necessities.  Compost, corn gluten meal etc are very effective in preserving the greenness of your lawn.

If you feel that your lawn needs improvement of some sort, make a first hand evaluation of the situation by checking the lawn thoroughly for bald patches, insect attack, weed infestation etc.  Find out why these are occurring and take preventive measures.  Make sure that the lawn is not being shaded by any shrub or tree, since this can result in bald patches.  Planting additional grass without taking remedial actions may not be a good idea.

You should not think that lawn care is an especially troublesome process.  If you persistently keep a tab on diverse aspects of the grass like the plants, the grass, trees around, the turf, the borders etc, the process would become simpler.  The feeding process, watering, protection from being walked by clumsy people, impedance of pest and weed growth etc need acceptable attention from your part.
